A Child’s War

I am Katy and I’m only ten years old. My daddy is a soldier and I do not know if he will ever come back from the war.
This war is terrible and I am waiting for my mother to bring some food. At least I know my father has regular food. Before the war I had a lot of food whenever I liked but now the submarines sink ships and all the flour, butter and other rationing food is at the bottom of the sea.
Every day I hear guns and shells firing. Sometimes I can smell dead bodies rotting. I’m all alone with only my mother.
Will my dad ever come back?
