A Soldier's Tale

We have been in this trench for 25 days now. I can’t get over the smell of the mud and the chances of falling over. I’ve fallen lots of times today.
I’m thinking of what I’ll do after the war. That is, if I live. Sometime I think I will not see my family again. I think they’re already dead and it will be my turn soon.
