I am waiting for you,
Waiting for you to come home.
I miss you dearly
I have no idea
What’s ahead of me.
All I need to know
is that you’re alright
Or even that you are safe.
I am waiting to know how horrific the sounds
Of gunshot may be,
Striking at soldiers
Like thunder and lightning.
I understand
You had to fight
But this waiting is killing me,
Knowing how the Germans may be destroying you.
Yet still I lie here
Waiting.
